Rabobank cordially invites you to join their experts giving their valuable insights and outlook for 2019 in the yearly ADB-DutchCham Financial Markets Outlook 2019 cocktail event , with title “Puzzling Times, cubed” by Rabobank’s Global Head of Financial Markets Research Jan Lambregts and Senior Asia-Pacific Strategist Michael Every.
As Nils Bohr once said, “Prediction is very difficult, especially if it’s about the future.”
However, ten years into this global recovery there is more uncertainty about what the next year holds than for decades. Is the US economy set to boom on tax cuts or bust as the Fed keeps hiking? Can Europe survive the sunset of QE, and what will Brexit look like? And is China a source of stability or instability? Moreover, can the global economy survive a trade war? And can global institutions survive the US’ new stance? The answers are like a puzzle.

Jan Lambregts, Global Head of Financial Markets Research, Rabobank
Based in London, Jan Lambregts oversees a worldwide team of analysts and strategists who cover macro, foreign exchange, fixed income, credit and agri commodities for key clients. Before his move to London in 2009 to head up the global Financial Markets Research team, Jan lived and worked in Singapore and Hong Kong for seven years, covering macro, FX and rates strategy for Rabobank clients, with a particular focus on Japan and China. A frequent speaker and panellist at conferences and roundtables, Jan is also one of Rabobank’s key media spokespeople on developments in financial markets, fulfilling regular interview requests from CNBC, Bloomberg, Reuters and other leading media organisations. A cum laude graduate of Tilburg University in the Netherlands, Jan holds a Master’s degree in micro/macro-economics, with further specialisations in finance and international trade.
Michael Every, Head of Financial Markets Research Asia-Pacific, Rabobank
Based in Hong Kong, Michael analyses the major developments in the Asia-Pacific region and contributes to the bank’s various economic research publications for internal and external customers and to the media. Michael has nearly two decades of experience working as an Economist and Strategist. Before Rabobank, he was a Director at Silk Road Associates, a strategy consultancy based in Bangkok. Prior to this, he was Senior Economist and Fixed Income Strategist at the Royal Bank of Canada based in both London and Sydney. Michael was formerly also an Economist for Dun & Bradstreet in London, covering ASEAN. Michael holds a Master’s degree in Economics (with distinction) from University College London and speaks Thai.
