Sustainability for Breakfast
On behalf of the Sustainability Community we would like to invite you for a series of three Sustainability for Breakfast sessions.
Globally, meat consumption is at the highest level it’s ever been. According to the UN, global meat production is projected to double by 2050. This poses major environmental threats including deforestation, biodiversity loss, natural resource depletion and increasing risk of zoonotic diseases.
This calls for a transition in our diets. With plant-based meat, cultivated meat, and fermentation, we can mitigate the environmental impact of our food system, decrease the risk of zoonotic disease, and ultimately feed more people with fewer resources.
Mirte Gosker, Acting Managing Director at The Good Food Institute APAC, will discuss how GFI is working to build a world where alternative proteins are no longer alternative and showcase how Singapore is leading the way as the first country that approved the sales of a cultivated meat product.
About the speaker
Mirte Gosker leads GFI Asia Pacific as Acting Managing Director, accelerating the markets for fermentation, plant-based and cultivated meat, egg and dairy through research and innovation. Prior to GFI, she worked as a management consultant to startups, and as a researcher in humanitarian logistics. She brings experience in startups, international development and philanthropy. Mirte holds a MA in International Development from Wageningen University.
Areas of expertise: entrepreneurship, business strategy and development, project management, people management, philanthropy.
